Sony is launching its portable PlayStation Portal device next month, and all eyes will be on it to see whether it turns out to be a huge success for Sony or a bit of a damp squib. British news publication, the BBC, caught up with Sony boss Eric Lempel to talk about the device, which allows PlayStation 5 owners to stream their game library to the handheld via an internet connection. Mr. Lempel denies that it will be going head to head with Nintendo’s Switch and Valve’s Steam Deck, as he claims the PlayStation Portal is a different proposition. Lempel also confirmed to the site that the PlayStation Portal can be used while outside the home, as long as the internet signal is strong enough. The device won’t work with their cloud gaming service.
