Kamaeru A Frog Refuge is on Xbox, Switch, PC

A farming sim where you find a home for cute frogs, within the ‘cosy game’ genre, may just be the most 2020s game ever developed. It may seem like a strange premise for a game – breeding frogs, breathing new life into a biodiverse environment, and generally watching little froggies bounce about, but I bet you any money that Kamaeru: A Frog Refuge will find a lot of fans.

A True Frog-Topia

Sometimes all you want to do is leave behind the busy urban life, and return to nature with your frog-loving childhood friend. That’s exactly what our protagonist Cleo has done in Kamaeru: A Frog Refuge, available today on Xbox, Switch and PC platforms.

Here, you’ll be taking a once desolate area of the world, and turning it into a frog-topia, complete with over 500 frogs across eight different species. Breeding frogs to produce new, unique animals, documenting their colours and patterns through photographs, and adding furniture to your world to attract even more ribbiters, is truly the name of the game here. A complete Frogedex you must have!

Of course, managing finances and recruiting helpers is a necessity – it’s not all about staring at frogs all day – and therefore you must keep an eye on your budget, as well as the contributions of your volunteers to the frog-farm. Soon enough, staff members will turn from strangers to the best of friends.
