Chrysolite – out now!

If it’s a very old-school action-platformer you wish to take for a spin, then Chrysolite has you covered. It comes to us from Firenut Games, and delivers many levels of jumping, attacking, and magical potions!

A Thief’s Life

Now available on Xbox, PlayStation, Switch and PC, Chrysolite sees players jump into an incredibly retro world, where pixels are the dominant species and your enemies are but sprites on the screen. That’s not such a bad thing however, with Chrysolite being incredibly colourful, and action-packed to boot. Playing as a thief looking to root around the ruins of a kingdom of the past, you’ll face off against a number of scary monsters, putting your platforming skills to good use as you slowly descend through the ruins. What may start off as a pretty juvenile experience will devolve into a pretty tricky platformer with elements of the Soulslike within.

Key Features

  • Intriguing narrative – There is more to these ruins than meets the eye. Find the pieces, connect the dots, and discover the dark story of the last days of the kingdom.
  • Simple, yet challenging gameplay – Jump, attack, and use the potions you may find along the way. It may seem simple at first but the ruins will put your skills to the test.
  • Fight an army of darkness – As you make your way through the ruins, you will have to face an increasingly challenging cohort of monsters, including a few tough bosses. Groovy.
  • Beautiful hand-drawn illustrations – Chrysolite uses hand-drawn illustrations to advance the narrative. You will be able to revisit each piece in the extras menu.

Chrysolite can now be played on Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PS5, PS4, Switch and PC. Whilst we descend into the ruins for our review of Chrysolite on Xbox, you can pick up a copy for yourself via the Xbox Store for £14.99.

Chrysolite Description

A strange knight sat in front of a fire, darkness surrounding him. His sword stuck in the ground, covered in dried blood. He warns you against going any further, but the intrigue of what lies beyond far surpasses the instinct of self-preservation.

Play as a young thief and explore the dangerous ruins of a once-prosperous kingdom. Fight against hordes of terrifying monsters, make your way through challenging platforming sections, and discover the secret that lies at the very bottom of the ruins in this handcrafted experience.

Chrysolite is a narrative-driven, pixel-art, 2D platformer with Soulslike inspirations
