Hidden PS3 Feature Just Being Discovered by Some Fans, Blowing Minds

A less known PS3 home screen feature is going viral again, and from the looks of it, a large number of players didn’t know that it existed. The moving particles seen on the console’s XrossMediaBar (XMB) correspond to the movement of the DualShock 3 controller. Players can change the direction of the moving particles if they wish.

This “discovery” makes the rounds every other year, but there’s still a surprising amount of players who don’t know that they can move the particles. This time, it’s a tweet by X user realradec that has scores of folks firing up their PS3s to check out the nifty feature.

I want to point out that I first saw the video featured in realradec’s tweet below in a 4-year old Reddit post on the same topic. I haven’t been able to verify if the video belongs to the X user and/or if they are the same person as the Reddit poster. Regardless, the tweet is worth sharing as that’s what brought up the topic again.

Players will be forgiven for not knowing this was a thing. Full disclosure: I didn’t discover this until at least 2012. What about you?
