As the year keeps rolling by in Mexico, Winter finally arrives in Forza Horizon 5’s Series 42 of Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges. The dry season promises to bring along a whole set of new challenges as the Horizon Extreme Series starts to reach a conclusion, and as usual I’m here to help you along.
The challenges are waiting, are you ready? I’ve got the tunes and the best cars for the job…
Part 1: Weekly Car Challenge – Hooni Tuned
We need to buy and drive a Hoonigan Ford Escort RS1800, my most favouritest car in the whole game! The tune I have for this, share code 264985022, is hands down the car I have the most fun in.
Should you not have one in your garage, they are on sale at the Autoshow, priced at 300,000 Credits. Hope you have deep pockets…
If not, simply win the first Eventlab, Ranchero Norte Circuit, to get one for free.
Chapter 1 – Pocket Rocket
Get in your new car, take it for a spin. Step one complete.
Chapter 2 – Sporting Chance.
The stock car has 330bhp, but the tune above has somewhat more.
So let’s win a road race! With dirt tyres it is slippy, but so much fun. I used the Horizon Oval as usual.
Chapter 3 – Kill all Tyres
Now simply get three awesome Drift Skills as this car has a clutch or something. Drifting is what this does best!
Chapter 4 – Purpose Built
Now we simply need to get three stars at speed traps. This thing will get that no problem.
I did check, and the tune I recommended above is 845 bhp. Yes, 845!
Complete these tasks and we will be five points closer to the seasonal prizes that are up for grabs with Forza Horizon 5’s Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges for Series 42.
Part 2: Weekly Challenges, Championships and PR Stunts
With the weekly challenge done and dusted, let’s dive into the rest of the mayhem on offer.
Series 42 Winter brings the usual mix, so strap in!
The Trial – Ute the Best
This week, the challenge is to take a B Class 700 Ford Ute and win some races. My share name is “UTE” with my GT, Red620Ti.
I couldn’t maintain my run of form in the Trial, and had to settle for three 3rd places last week. How the mighty have fallen…
We will attempt to win a Hoonigan F-150.
Eventlab 1 – X DEAD ZEPPELIN Presents Ranchero Norte Cicuit
We can only use S1 Class Track Toys for this event, and so I used the 2012 Porsche 911 GT2 RS. Share code for mine is : 129256081.
A nice flowing layout that works well with the class of car, this one is good. Nice job!
The prize is a Hoonigan Escort. Awesome! And handy for the weekly car challenge.
Eventlab 2 – RICKRANGER711 Presents The -Gulch of Monument Valley
B Class 700 SUV Heroes are needed here, and so I chose a Maserati Levante in stock trim, as it is as near as dammit the right class.
A pretty cool track with multiple paths, this is fun to drive around.
We can win a Super Wheelspin, just for a change.
PR Stunt 1 – Speed Trap – East Resort
This week, all the PR Stunts need a S2 Class 998 car. I chose the Rimac Nevera. Share name for mine is “Nevera” and the GT is Red620Ti.
We need to hit 215 mph to win out. Take a run up past the airplane.
If you do it, take a Super Wheelspin home.
PR Stunt 2 – Speed Zone – Green Hills
Same car for this, I fancy.
Average over 180 mph to complete this challenge. This one is tricky due to a tight bend at one end.
Another Super Wheelspin awaits.
PR Stunt 3 – Trailblazer – Malpais
Only one car for off road in this class, and that is the BMW X5 M FE. Share code for mine is : 519084427.
Hit the finish line with over 20 seconds on the clock to win.
Another Super Wheelspin.
Seasonal Championship 1 – Calm Before the Storm
We need an S2 Class 998 Extreme Track toy for this, so the Bugatti Divo will suffice. Share code : 169915677.
For winning out, we can take home an Ariel Atom.
Seasonal Championship 2 – Baja Blazers
Pickups and 4X4’s to a max of C Class 600 for this set of races, and as usual, it’s a Ford F-150 Raptor I rely on. The 2011 mode in factl. Share code is : 139383916.
For winning, it is a Koenigsegg CC8S that is the prize.
Part 3: Other Challenges
The Treasure Hunt, a photo challenge, Eliminator, Playground Games – not enough hours in the day!
Photo Challenge – #REACHINGSTARS
Photograph any Hypercar at the Gran Telescopio. Seems easy enough, right?
See the top of the piece for my artistic effort.
The location you need to be in is below.
The reward? A Farid Rueda Lion Sundress.
Playground Games – Gone Truckin
We need to use the Hot Wheels Bone Shaker monster truck here, and as it doesn’t matter if we win or lose, I kept mine in stock trim.
Play a few games and have a bit of fun. What could be better?
Take home a #64 Nissan 370Z.
The Eliminator – Battle Royale
Survive into the top 30 by hook or by crook. No advice as I suck at the Eliminator, but hide in a bush or something.
If we manage it, a new Forzalink phrase will be ours, “Welcome to the Eliminator!”. Handy.
Treasure Hunt – Top of the World
The clue reads “Take this Ex-ceptional off-roader to the highest point of Mexico and you will be able to see the treasure!.”
The picture shows the Exocet off roader, so drive it to the top of the volcano to complete the challenge. Or, you know, fast travel your way there…
The treasure chest contains 300 FP, and the location is shown below.
Part 4: Hot Wheels Events
If you have the Hot Wheels expansion and are an Elite Level player, then you get to enjoy a couple of extra events.
Seasonal PR Stunt – Speed Trap – Dragons Fall
We need an S2 Class 998 Extreme Track Toy for this, so the Bugatti Divo will suffice. Share code : 169915677.
Hit the trap at over 270 mph to win out. Big run up!
A Super Wheelspin is your reward.
Seasonal Championship – Hot N Cold
The class this time is S1 Class 900 Modern Supercar, and so I chose a Nissan GT-R Black Edition, share code : 394811233.
The reward for racing? A Lambo Aventador from 2012.
Part 5: Rally Adventure Events
The Rally Adventure expansion brings even more events to the roster and provided you are already a Horizon Badlands champion, you’ll get access to the following couple of events…
Seasonal PR Stunt – Drift Zone – Devils Pass
We need an S2 Class 998 car for this, and when it comes to sliding about, I think Kenny from the Block had it right. Use a stock Hoonicorn to get the job done.
Score over 115,000 drift points to win.
The prize is another Super Wheelspin. Sigh.
Seasonal Championship – Monsters in the Night
Rally Monsters and A Class 800 means only one thing in my (admittedly small) book, the Hoonigan Cossie V2. Share code for mine is : 140648350.
Completing the championship will get us an Exocet Offroad, ideal for the Treasure Hunt.
The rewards for Series 42 and Winter in Forza Horizon 5
With Series 42 at Winter, the reward cars are more than present – It’s the Radical RXC for 80 points and a Hot Wheels Twin Mill for 160 points that are up for grabs. Play your cards right and the second should be well on it’s way to you
Even more Rivals circuits have now been added with Series 42 – only two this time around though. There is the Tierra Prospero Circuit for petrol heads, and the Ek Balam Cross Country Circuit for those who get a charge out of EV’s. (Sorry). The prize total stays the same though, 4 points for making sure you turn in a clean lap.
Grab enough points and Series 42 Winter also sees you given access to the Donkervoort GTO non exclusive, for 20 points. Additionally, for 40 points we can get a Backstage Pass, and these can be swapped for hard to find cars in the game. Handy!
Next week will see the Series draw to close, and no doubt I will have some wild guesses as to what Series 43 will be.
To enjoy these events in the Festival Playlist Weekly Challenges, you’ll need a copy of Forza Horizon 5. It’s available on Game Pass, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC and on the cloud via mobile. The Xbox Store will sort you out with a download.
Let us know in the comments if I have helped, hindered or missed the mark with these tunes.
